Details about the artist
Rosa M. Serrano Sanchez was born in Bayamon, Puerto Rico. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Visual Arts Education and the University of Puerto Rico and the Caribbean University. Worked as a professional educator for the Department of Education for about 36 years. During those years, developed various art projects, such as screen printing and linocut workshop, School Gallery, Workshop on Research and Artistic Creation, among others. They also offered trainings and workshops for teachers and other staff on various topics of educational interest. Worked at the Museum of Art of Puerto Rico as the coordinator of seminars for teachers on the integration of art into the curriculum.
Graduated from Sacred Heart University with a Master in Information Systems and Educational Technology. He was awarded the Medal for Academic Excellence Gateway. In the said college offered a linocut workshop for student teachers. He was President of the Art Students League of San Juan del 2004-2006.
His professional development includes studies in the School of Visual Arts in San Juan, Program SuperArte. In addition, continuing education courses in: Modeling the Human Figure, Preparation of ceramic glazes, ceramic sculpture and metal sculpture. He has refined his artistic techniques in ceramic sculpture in the workshops of Tony Hambleton, Roxana Rivera Jordan Dara (Casabayó).
Artist commissioned to create the National Prize of the Festival de la Calle San Sebastián Over the past four years which has been given to 45 personalities who have worked to preserve our culture, among them Ricky Martin, in 2008. As a member belonging to the Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico (MAP), the Museum of Contemporary Art (MAC) and the Coalition of Artists of Puerto Rico (COA). He has served as a juror in different competitions of drawings and paintings in Puerto Rico. He has participated in solo and group exhibitions in museums and galleries in and outside Puerto Rico.
Chosen as a guest artist to participate in the event of the Fourth International Triennial CERAMIC TILE (elit-tile 2009/10) in Santo Domingo 2010.
